Tuckwells, a leading name in the agricultural sector, approached Hytek to help solve a long-standing issue with their oil storage and dispensing process. For years, Tuckwells had been sourcing and buying their oil in plastic drums, but this method presented a range of challenges, including recycling difficulties, inefficiency, and high costs. Hytek collaborated closely with the Tuckwells team to design a bespoke solution that addressed all of their concerns, resulting in a cleaner, more efficient, and environmentally friendly oil dispensing system.
The challenge
Tuckwells faced several challenges with their existing oil storage and dispensing setup. The use of plastic drums posed significant recycling difficulties, adding to their environmental concerns. The process of transferring oil from these drums to machinery was inefficient and time-consuming, often leading to unnecessary delays. Additionally, it was difficult to extract all the oil from the drums, resulting in wastage and increased costs. As Tuckwells’ oil usage grew, the reliance on plastic drums became an increasingly expensive solution. Finally, handling oil from the drums frequently resulted in spills, creating safety and cleanliness issues that further complicated their operations.
We bought the Workshop 230V IBC Oil Delivery System Kit from Hytek for our workshop to make it easier to pump out the right amount of oil. This in turn makes it more cost-effective for us, as we can then order oil in bulk. Using the Hytek solution, our engineers are able to pump out the precise amount of oil needed, which is much more efficient for stock control and prevents wastage. It also streamlines the delivery of oil. We are very happy with what we have.

The Bespoke Solution
After consulting with Tuckwells, we developed a tailored oil dispensing solution to eliminate these challenges. The key elements of the solution included:
1. 230V Gear Pump with High Dispensing Speed Hytek provided a 230V gear pump capable of dispensing oil at a speed of 12 litres per minute. This pump was mounted on a specially designed bracket that hooks securely onto 1,000-litre IBC containers. The setup ensured Tuckwells could efficiently transfer oil with minimal effort and maximum reliability.
2. Portable and Flexible Design The system was designed to be portable, allowing it to move easily between IBC containers. This flexibility made it simple for the Tuckwells team to adapt to their operational needs without requiring multiple setups or significant manual labour.
3. Precise Control and Measurement To ensure accurate oil dispensing, Hytek incorporated a suction hose with a quick-release adaptor and a delivery hose equipped with a digital hose-end oil meter. With an impressive accuracy of +/- 0.5%, this feature provided Tuckwells with complete control over how much oil was dispensed into their machinery.
4. Zero Spill, Zero Mess The solution was designed with cleanliness and efficiency in mind, allowing Tuckwells to fill engines, gearboxes, and differentials without any risk of spills or mess. This clean dispensing system not only improved the workshop environment but also reduced product loss and waste.
The Results
Hytek’s bespoke oil dispensing system transformed Tuckwells’ operations by addressing their key challenges with plastic drums. The new solution enabled them to order oil in bulk, reducing costs and eliminating waste through precise measurement and efficient dispensing. The portable and spill-free design improved workflow in their workshop, ensuring cleanliness and minimising environmental impact.
