Case Studies How we developed the FC20i fuel management system with integral tank gauge Share This Article: Copy to clipboard Copied At Hytek, we take great pride in listening to our customers and, wherever possible, reacting to their feedback and ideas. We consider ourselves to be deeply proactive in our approach to new product and solutions development, but we also know that sometimes our customers have the best ideas. The development of the FC20i is one such example. Recently, one of our favorite trade customers provided us with some excellent feedback they had previously installed our Pumptronics ALPHA pump with our integral FC10 fuel management system. They were also delighted with our optional FC.TGE automatic tank gauge interface, which allowed them to accurately track tank levels, fuel deliveries, and trigger low stock warnings via email and visual alerts on our cloud-based software. Yet, they realised that they needed more. Our customer’s end-users really required a sudden loss alarm that would alert them to any environmental issues or unauthorised fuelling. We listen That’s when our Director, Andrew Olive, stepped up and worked closely with our projects/technical team to make the customer’s vision a reality. We broke down the requirements and got to work. After some initial research and development, we found out that the sudden loss alarm needed a different type of SIM card as well as some cloud-based software tweaks. We made the necessary changes and took steps to accommodate the customer’s request. As part of a broader solution, we replaced the ALPHA/FC10 with a standard commercial ALPHA fuel pump for dispensing Diesel and HVO. We assembled the FMS part of the FC10 into our new FC20i wall mount cabinet, which uses the same electronics kit and technology as the FC10. The O.L.E. Tank Gauge T5020 was integrated into the same FC20i cabinet, eliminating the need for a separate housing. Additionally, the FC.TGE automatic tank gauge interface was also built into the FC20i cabinet, removing the need for a separate housing. We create unique solutions Andrew and his team developed a prototype based on a stainless-steel cabinet that the company already produced. The prototype included an FMS, automatic tank gauge interface, T5020 Tank Gauge, GPRS modem, and a SIM card with cloud-based software tweaks to allow for sudden loss alerts. The customer was invited to view the prototype, and after making a few minor adjustments, they decided to switch to these new units. The new units include a standalone FC20i (FMS) with tank gauge interface, gauge, and sudden loss alarm, which can be linked up to a standalone ALPHA Diesel and HVO dispenser. What did the customer think of our service? ”We were very pleased with how Andrew and his team responded to our request. The FC20i provides a solution that our customers need. Our customer’s engineers said they spent less time on site and did not have to install multiple cables and products separately, as everything was supplied in one housing’’. And a word from Andrew Olive ‘’At Hytek, we love to find solutions to our customers; often unique challenges. After taking time to ensure we understood their needs, were able to find a solution within the given timeframe. We have made a few enhancements to the product over the first few months, and I’m excited to announce that it’s now available to our wider customer base at HYTEK. Even better news is that it comes at an affordable price, so why not get in touch with your account manager or the HYTEK customer support team to register your interest? They can arrange an online or in-person demonstration’’. And now enhanced CO₂ reporting comes as standard Our HYTEK/Pumptronics FC2Oi, FC20, and ALPHA pump with FC10 fuel management systems have an enhanced CO₂ reporting facility, thanks to the development of the FC20i. As a result, end-users can now view the total amount of CO₂ in KG per dispensed fuel, which allows them to compare the savings of CO₂ compared to using regular white diesel and HVO. In conclusion We love to work with our customers to help build unique solutions. We can do that face-to-face or over online channels – whatever suits you best.
