They prevent damage or total loss to the fuel dispenser if the vehicle drives off with the fuel nozzle still in the vehicle’s fuel tank. This valve is designed to separate at the correct pull force, preventing pump/dispenser and pipework damage. Each half of the valve closes, preventing leaks and potential fuel spills, helping to prevent pollution
